A little about me and this site.

Well I’m just a girl with a flare for the artistic.  I am a nomad traveler.  I am a photographer.  I love making and creating anything and everything.  I love living my life outside of the cookie cutter, I like to break the mold.  I’m not a writer but I am a sharer.  You wont find an author on these pages.  I wont pretend I can write a paragraph, but I can take a mean picture and create beautiful earrings.

At the moment I’m living on Vancouver Island, I’ve just returned to Canada from an epic 2.5 years traveling Australia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Borneo, Thailand, Bali, Singapore, Vietnam, and Cambodia.  I have $50 in my pocket.  I am happy.  This is my story.

I’m originally from Ontario Canada and was living a very normal and semi-uneventful life out there.  I had my own house, a cat, a car, a Blackberry, then an iPhone.  I was a self employed and very successful Hairstylist.  I had a fiance and life was…normal I guess.  What could be wrong with all that?  It’s what people strive for their whole lives and I had it at a tender age of 26 (ish).  The only thing that was missing was a few kids and a dog, though I’m sure they wouldn’t have been far behind the fancy and flowery princess wedding.  Thing is, all I could say when I described it was “it’ll do”.  “It’ll do”??? Who says that? Who wants that?  Was I seriously going to go forward with this life that I thought was nothing more than mediocre? In the words of my good friend Joline “I want sparkle, dammit, I deserve sparkle!”.  So I woke up one morning and decided to make some small changes.  For one, get rid of that guy “that’ll do”.  First life changing decision – check!  Number 2, pay off all my dept and start saving more.  This one was easy because I’m notoriously cheap and would rather die than put something on a credit card (unless its that super cute patio furniture set from HomeDepot that is on sale and is the last one they have AND if you sign up for their card today you get an additional 10% OFF) so I’ve always been able to stay relatively dept free, though saving wasn’t always easy.  But now it was time to save all the pennies not spent – check and ongoing check!

So now I’m feeling a little bit free and I feel like I own my life instead of my life owning me.  I’m not going anywhere but it’s because I haven’t found anywhere I want to go yet (or someone I want to go with).  But I am saving some cash for when I do find that some where and someone.  Then one day it all happens…I met “the guy”.  I’m not saying you need a guy to find the destination but for me, he brought my dreams into words and goals.  All I needed was someone to talk to with the same needs, for me to realize what I wanted.  We talked for hours/days/months about traveling the world.  I wanted to take pictures of beauty, I wanted to find inspiration in someone else’s backyard, I wanted to experience different cultures and people and styles and colors.  I wanted sparkle!!  And now I had figured out what “sparkle” meant for me.  I was going to do this, I new where I was going, how I was going to get there and who was joining me in the adventure.  The fun thing was I had no plans on what to do when I finally got to the destination…

This website is a bit of a documentation of what I’ve been doing since I had my revelation,  and on all the new revelations I’ve had since that first one.  It’s about the sights I’ve seen and lessons I’ve learned.  It’s about my creative spirit.  Yes I’d like to sell some of my creative works to fund future adventures but it’s truly here to put myself out there and hope someone listens and feels inspired to find their “sparkle”.

If you’d like to help fund my travels please take a look at my new home decor site www.nadbrad.com All the photography you see is by me and I’m sure you’ll find an image that brings you inspiration.  Everything is shipped right to your door!
